Katherine V. Clay, 94 of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 6:45 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Golden Living Center after a short illness. She had been a resident there since September 2013.
Katherine was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Bourbon, Ind., to Elmer W. and Viola (Anderson) Scott. She had lived her lifetime in Nappanee except from 1959 -1976, when she lived in Hialiah, Fla. Her first marriage was to Glen Nettrour. He preceded her in death. Her second marriage was to Roy J. Clay, May 25, 1979, in Nappanee. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Clay was a homemaker. She was a member of the VFW and Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary. She had been active in the Wednesday morning Coffee League for many years until the Nappanee Bowling Alley closed. Katherine enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her daughter: Rita (Stan) Thomas, Nappanee; three grandchildren: Brenda Hawkins; Kara Huff; Dawn Turpin; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Roxanne Paugh; granddaughter: Betsy Heckaman; sisters: Phyllis Scott and Naomi Kelsick; and a brother: George E. Scott.
visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. with Reverend Byrl Shaver officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
