Two variances, the only cases on the agenda, were approved at Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals on Thursday.

John and Kathleen Bushnell’s petition for a variance was approved. The variance is to allow construction of a new residence 17 feet 10 inches from the road right-of-way, 5 feet 10 inches from the west sideline, 6 feet 8 inches from the south sideline, and 25 feet 5 inches from the east side water’s edge.
The Bushnell’s property is located at 603 E. Lakeview Rd. The couple are tearing down the existing structure and re-building a new house.

The second case, Vincent Doyle’s petition for a variance, was also approved. Doyle’s property is located at 304 N. Oak St.

The variance is to allow construction of a residential accessory, a 12-foot-by-18-foot detached garage, 9.5 feet from the west road right-of-way and 6 feet from the south side alley. There will be a 4-foot separation between the house and the new garage.

The variance also allows Doyle’s existing shed to remain in existence, as is, too. The shed will be 4 feet from the south side alley and 5 feet from the rear property line.

There were no remonstrators for either case.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 17, at Syracuse Town Hall.
