Alfred Kennedy, 83, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, in Lamplight Assisted Living of Fort Wayne.
He was born on July 23, 1930, in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. He married Renee Goldstein and cared for her lovingly for 26 years before her death. Al was a resident of Wappingers Falls until moving to Fort Wayne in 2000.
Alfred worked as a heavy machine operator, building roads for the state of New York. He so proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951-1953, and would say no more about it than he lost his best buddies on either side of him. He was of the Catholic faith and for years volunteered at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, until Alzheimer’s stole his words and sense of direction. When most all his memory was gone, he could still sing the Marine Corp Battle Hymn.
Alfred is survived by five stepchildren: Dr. Glenn L. Goldstein, Fort Wayne; Barry Goldstein, Nashville, Tenn.; Fred Goldstein, Pine Bush, N.Y.; Joy Goldstein Glas, Coram, N.Y.; and Dale Goldstein, Manhattan, N.Y.
There is no visitation or services planned.
