Emergency crews responded to an accident in the westbound lane of U.S. 30 near DePuy in Warsaw Monday where a semi tractor and a fuel tanker collided. It happened just before noon.

According to Warsaw Police, James L. Davis, 61, of LaPorte, was driving a semi tractor-trailer in the westbound lane of the highway following the tanker, driven by Charles H. Daniel, 66, of Georgia. Davis told police he looked down for a moment and when he looked back up, he saw the tanker had slowed to a stop for the red light.

Davis was not able to stop in time and rear-ended the tanker, which was full of diesel fuel. The tanker was not ruptured and no fuel was released. Neither driver was hurt in the collision which tied up traffic in the area for about an hour.
