889b117a-7e4e-4f53-9b7c-e47bb22dbc01Josefa Martinez, 75, of Rochester, Ind., passed away at 3:45 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, Ind.

She was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Guanajuato, Mexico to Rafael Martinez and M. Guadalupe Estrada.
She was married in 1955 to Jose Guadalupe Vera. He preceded her in death.

Josefa enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking. She was always very active and always full of energy.

She is survived by her daughters: Rafaela (Leonardo) Palmas, Napa, Calif.; Graciela (Agustin) Garcia, Jaral del Progresso, Guanajuato; M. Dolores (Alfonso) Rivera, Jaral del Progresso; M. Guadalupe (Jesus) Panales, Akron, Ind.; Maria Vera, Warsaw, Ind.; Ana Delia Vera, North Manchester, Ind.;  Marina (David) Garcia, Rochester; sons: Uriel (Maria) Vera, Armadillo, Guanajuato; Guillermo (Sandra) Vera, Akron; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Genoveva, Marisela and Luz Maria; and brothers: Nicolas, Salvador, Ignacio, Miguel, Manuel and Adolfo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers: Rafael and Romero; and sisters: Juana and Angela.

Visitation will take place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Hartzler Funeral Home Akron. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home with Father Constantino Rocha officiating. Burial will take place in the Gaerte Cemetery in Macy, Ind.
