WARSAW – The defense of the Warsaw junior varsity football team collected its second straight shutout Saturday.

The Tiger defense, for good measure, also scored two touchdowns in a win.

Host Warsaw got scores from Tyler Packard and Landon Perry in blanking East Noble 17-0.

Packard scored on a 56-yard return of a fumble recovery and Perry tallied on a 48-yard interception return for the Tigers.

Andrew Mevis booted a 27-yard field goal as Warsaw improved to 2-0.

Drew Brock also had a fumble recovery for the Tigers. Jack Higgins had eight tackles, Marselo Rodriguez seven and Alec Haines five stops for the winners.

The duo of Ross Armey and Thomas Hickerson led the offense Saturday. Armey rushed for 86 yards and Hickerson had 88 receiving yards for Warsaw.

Quarterback Jake Mangas was 4-7 for 97 yards for Warsaw. Signalcaller Ben Linky was 2-3 for 71 yards for the winners.

Warsaw opens NLC play at Plymouth next Saturday at 10 a.m.
