Donald E. Dohner, 77, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.
He was born Feb. 20, 1936, to the late Ward and Marian (Hart) Dohner in Arcanum, Ohio. Mr. Dohner was a graduate of Franklin-Monroe High School in Ohio. He moved here in 1958 when he drove truck for the BVS in Nappanee. Donald married Sharon Miller on July 14, 1962, at the Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
He retired from R.R. Donnelly and Sons in Warsaw after working there for 33 years as J.-Stock Coordinator. Following retirement, he worked at the North Central Co-op in Nappanee for 10 years. The Dohners were members of the Star Craft Camping Club from 1976–2010. Currently they were members of the Good Sam Camping Club. Don enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren and also gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife; his children: Kerry (Rhonda) Dohner, Bourbon, Ind.; David Dohner, Warsaw, Ind.; Jody (Steve) Miller, Nappanee; grandchildren: Samantha, Breanna, Megan, Jacob, Lyta and Blake; sister: Joy (Terry) Caden, Brookville, Ohio; brothers: Earl (Elene) Dohner, New Lebanon, Ohio; and Rodger (Sharon) Dohner, Bellbrook, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Margaret Dohner; and a brother: Dwight Dohner.
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Funeral Home. Reverend Bart Shaw will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
