images-7FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw boys soccer team collected a 1-0 win over Fort Wayne Northrop Tuesday night.

Junior Manuel Rodriguez netted the lone goal of the non-conference match.

Senior Zach Tucker picked up an assist on the score for the Tigers, who are ranked No. 2 in Class 2-A.

Warsaw, which was state runner-up in 2012, had a 23-8 edge in shots and a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal in the win. The Tigers also had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

David Munoz scored two goals as the Warsaw JV team won 4-1. Edward Esqueda and Pedro Monsivais each had a goal for the Tigers. Monsivais and Sam Miller each had an assist.

Warsaw, now 2-0-1 on the season, hosts Plymouth Thursday in its Northern Lakes Conference opener. The Tigers then play at Penn Saturday with the JV game at 10 a.m. followed by the varsity.
