Sharon Batesla, 76, of Syracuse, Ind., passed peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at the IU Goshen Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1937, in Cromwell, Ind., to Albert and Mabel Maggart. She graduated from Crowell High School with valedictorian honors. On Christmas Day 1977, she married Ed Batesla.

She held various secretarial positions throughout her career, as well as serving the Wawasee community as a EMT for 13 years.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband; two loving daughters: Wanda (Scott) Brown, Syracuse; Kella (Joe) England, Staten Island, N.Y.; one son: Gregory (Suzanne) Batesla, Texas; and her only grandson: Kellie Brown.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Janis; and brother: Max.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home with burial immediately following.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the IU Goshen Hospice.
