Larry A. Heeter, 69, of South Whitley, Ind., passed away at 2:38 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., where he was admitted the Friday before.

He was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Huntington, Ind., to Max and Geneva (Stetzel) Heeter. As a young boy his family moved to Wisconsin. As a teenager, he moved to North Manchester, Ind. and graduated from Manchester High School.

He was employed at Farmer’s Grain Elevator, Whitley Manufacturing for nearly 15 years and Wabash Valley. He was a former volunteer fireman for South Whitley – Cleveland Township Fire Department.

He is survived by two daughters: Bonita Yates, Sarasota Fla; Cheri R. Heeter, South Whitley; a granddaughter: Hope Yates; his mother; three sisters: Peggy Santee, Wisconsin; Kay Beyler, Sharpsville, Ind.; Carol Lambert, Washington, Ind.; and a brother: Ron Heeter, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a grandson: Ryne Yates.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the South Whitley – Cleveland Township Fire Department. Arrangements are being handled by Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
