Pauline “Paula” K. Smith, 84 of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 in her residence.

On Dec. 14, 1929, she was born in Muehltal, West Germany, to George and Clara Elizabeth (Battig) Goeckel I. She married Albert G. Smith on Oct. 3, 1948, in Zanesville, Ind. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2009.

Paula moved to Columbia City from West Germany in 1948 and then moved to Warsaw 26 years ago. She attended business school in 1947. She was a housewife and was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw.

She is survived by her son: Leslie B. (Yong) Smith, Texas; her grandson: Jason (Tricia) Smith, Platte City, Missouri; her sister: Elizabeth (George) Leissler, Muehltal, Germany; and her son-in-law: Harold Galloway, North Webster, Ind.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter: Colleen K. Smith; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Steve Ailes and Pastor Jim MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
