Nayomia Maple, 70, of Akron, Ind., passed away at 2 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at her residence.
She was born on July 30, 1943, in Hurley, Va., Hannible and Katherine (Justice) Lester. On July 6, 1964, in Hurley, she was married to Ervin Dotson. He preceded her in death. On June 3, 1978, in North Manchester, Ind., she was married to Jerry D. Maple. He also preceded her in death.
She retired from Tippecanoe Valley Middle School as a cook. She also worked prior to the middle school at Akron Elementary. She was a homemaker that loved to clean and visit family.
She is survived by a daughter: Jennifer (Eric) Murphy, Akron; sons: James (Lorena) Dotson, El Paso, Texas; Jerry (Malana) Maple Jr., Fort Wayne, Ind.; Travis (Melissa) Maple, Fort Wayne; sisters: Edith Justus, Hurley; Retha Adams – Akron; and 10 grandchildren: Tyler Maple, Dylan Murphy, Brandon Murphy, Roma Dotson, Katelyn Maple, Ashlyn Maple, Elijah Maple, Kaitlyn Baysinger, Hailey Baysinger and Chandler Zartman.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands; her parents; sisters: Rebecca Dotson, Okie Justice, Clemie Bailey, Mary Lester and Pearl Justus; and her brother: Lawrence Lester.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Funeral services will take place at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at Gaerte Cemetery, Macy, Ind.
