David Frank Mayhew, 73, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, in his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1940, in Gary, Ind., to Edward W. and Ruth Rowena (Torbet) Mayhew. He graduated from Gilead High School in 1958.
He married Jane Ellen (Storment) Fritschle on July 5, 1997, in Warsaw. He has lived in Warsaw most of his life.
He is a safety tech for R.R. Donnelly and Sons for 44 years retiring in 2004.
He was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, Warsaw, Ham radio operator for over 60 years known as WA9ZYC, loved wood carving, music especially southern gospel and blue grass, and loved to play the harmonica.
He is survived by his wife: Jane Ellen Mayhew, Warsaw; two sons: Douglas (Michelle) Mayhew, Claypool, Ind.; and Duane (Sandra) Mayhew, Warsaw; a daughter: Danita (Dan) Spangler, Pierceton, Ind.; two step children; six step grandchildren and 10 step great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Paul Mayhew.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in the funeral home with Pastor David Cripe of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
