FORT WAYNE – Science Central has announced the scheduling of its annual fall shutdown to perform exhibit and building maintenance, beginning Monday, Sept. 2, to Friday, Sept. 6; and from Monday, Sept. 9, to Friday, Sept. 13. The popular science center will be open for business on Saturdays and Sundays, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1; Sept. 7-8; and Sept. 14-15.

During the school year, Science Central is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and is open Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. School year hours will go into effect on Tuesday, Aug.20.

“We appreciate the community’s understanding as we close our doors for maintenance,” said Science Central Executive Director Martin Fisher. “We want our center to be in excellent condition for our visitors, and taking 10 days to do scheduled maintenance each year helps us keep our historic building in good operating condition. We’ll re-open on Sept. 18, and will start to get ready for the grand opening of Science On a Sphere in early October.”

Science Central, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, has provided a hands-on fun learning environment for over 17 years.
