Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

Tuesday, Aug. 6, 6:36 a.m. East 900 South, Pierceton. Driver: Cherity J. Prater, 36, East 900 South, South Whitley. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000

Monday, Aug. 5, 3:47 p.m. North Sullivan Road and East 500 North, North Webster. Drivers: unknown; and Chandler R. Kauffman, 19, Runway Drive, Elkhart. Kauffman said he was northbound on Sullivan Road and started to slow for the stop sign at East 500 North when a dark colored/purple garbage truck turned off of 500 North. Kauffman said he swerved to avoid the truck but struck the left rear tire. The driver of the garbage truck continued away from the scene. Damages: up to $5,000

Monday, Aug. 5, 12:04 p.m. North 600 West, Warsaw. Driver: Shanon L. Jones, 36, West 400 North, Warsaw. Driver swerved to miss a deer and struck a utility pole. Jones complained of back pain. Damages: up to $5,000

Monday, Aug. 5, 12:46 a.m. East 700 North, Leesburg. Driver: Cory J. Moneyheffer, 22, North 200 West, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $1,000
