grossnickleMary Jane Grossnickle, 88, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:33 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born Nov. 1, 1925, in North Manchester, Ind., to Vinson Merrill and Icel Marie (Sutherly) Stukey. She was united in marriage to Paul Grossnickle in North Manchester on Sept. 3, 1944.

Mary Jane was a bookkeeper for the office of Dr. Paul Grossnickle, O.D. of Warsaw.

She was a member of the Ladies 18 Hole Leagues at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Rozella Ford Golf Course and Stonehenge Golf Club. In addition, she, along with other volunteers, knitted hats for cancer patients through the Catherine Peachy Fund. She was a beginning and advanced knitting instructor for the YMCA of Kosciusko County and volunteered with the Symphony of the Lakes and Mobile Meals. She was best known for her ”famous” Texas sheet cake and her fondness for bridge and square dancing.

She is survived by her husband: Dr. Paul Grossnickle; sons: Dr. Steven (Lori) Grossnickle and Dr. Bruce (Jeanne) Grossnickle, all of Warsaw; a sister: Barbara McCausland, Tucumcari, N.M.; grandchildren: Brian (Hildy) Grossnickle, Maple City, Mich.; David Grossnickle, Chicago, Ill.; Eric (Alanna) Grossnickle, Traverse City, Mich.; Mark Grossnickle, Tucson, Ariz.; Katie Grossnickle, Maple City, Mich.; Jamie (Will) Cunningham, Sanford, N.C.; and great-grandchildren: Mica and Kati Grossnickle, both of Maple City, Mich.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel Warsaw, Indiana.
