1180334_profile_picDevon A. Weaver, 74, of Nappanee, Ind., died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Locke, Ind., to the late Charles E. and Virginia Fern Domer Weaver. On Aug. 25, 1957, he married Patricia Sherk in Jeffersonville, Ind.

Devon was a lifetime area resident. He was retired after working at Coppes Kitchens, Evangel Press and Wise Furniture, all in Nappanee. He also built and delivered ambulances for Marque in Goshen.

He was a member of Brethren In Christ Church in Nappanee. Devon loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, travel, reading and bird watching.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife: Patricia; daughter: Penny (Rob) Nickerson, Nappanee; sons: Dennis (Virginia) Weaver, South Bend, Ind.; Doug (Kendrea) Weaver, Nappanee; Duane (Mary) Weaver, Mission, Texas; grandchildren: Stephanie, Bronson, Stacie, Spencer, Colin, Haley, Kathryn Weaver, McGwire and Molly Nickerson; sisters: Delores Culp, Dixie Roeder, Connie Thomas-Rosenberry, all of Nappanee; and Carol (Jerry) Sherk, Gladewater, Texas; and brothers: Don Weaver, Charles (Shirley) Weaver and Jim (Diana) Weaver, all of Nappanee.

Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for 1 hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Brethren in Christ Church. Pastor Jeff Williams will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
