Jerome ‘Jerry’ M. Wall, 62, of South Whitley, Ind., passed away at 12:24 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., where he was admitted on Wednesday. He had been in failing health.
He was born Nov. 9, 1951, in Syracuse, N.Y. to John and Margo (Egan) Wall. He started elementary school in Syracuse and, at the age of 10, the family moved to Daytona Beach, Fla. He graduated high school in Daytona Beach and went on to the London College of Music in London, England, where he earned his Master’s in Music. On June 7, 1980, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth R. May. They made their home in South Whitley before moving to Columbia City. She preceded him in death.
He taught music at the London College for 4 years before returning to the area taking a position with Fox Products, South Whitley in 1978. He also served as a volunteer EMT for the Whitley County EMS in South Whitley. In 1989 he became a paramedic and dispatcher with the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Fort Wayne retiring in 2006.
He is survived by a daughter: Amanda (Jason) Esterline, South Whitley; two granddaughter: Holly and Sarah Esterline; his father; two brothers: Thomas (Rebecca) Wall, Ormond Beach, Fla.; Chris (Donna) Wall, Deland; and two sisters: Vicki Reed, Norfolk, Va.; and Betsy Wall, Ormond Beach.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.
