During Wednesday’s opening night of Wagon Wheel Theatre’s 400th professional production “The Wedding Singer,” which runs through Saturday, July 27, one of the nation’s best regional theaters also announced its much anticipated upcoming 2014 summer season lineup to the sold out audience:

• “Mary Poppins” June 4-14, 2014
• “Catch Me If You Can” June 18-28, 2014
• “Gypsy” July 2-12, 2014
• “Fiddler on the Roof” July 16-26, 2014
• “And Then There Were None” July 30-Aug. 9, 2014
• “The Marvelous Wonderettes” Aug. 13-23, 2014

New in 2014 will be an Encore Show, which will premier after the normal summer season closes on Sept. 2, 2014, and run through Sept. 7. The musical, “Rent,” was chosen as the 2014 Encore Show.

Scott Michaels, artistic director, explained the Wagon Wheel board wanted to add more cutting edge productions to the line-up, and the Encore Show will make that happen. The summer season productions will remain family-friendly as they always have been, but this and future Encore Shows will explore more edgy themes.
