Carl Stidams, 69, of West Monroe, La., and formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2013.

He was born June 9, 1944, to Delbert and Tilda Stidams. He was an avid sportsman and active in the Wounded Warriors project, member of the American Legion. He served 12 years in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam.

Carl loved to play poker with his buddies and he loved his dogs, Chloe and Harley. He was a semi driver for many years then became a Master Diesel Mechanic, of which he retired from.

He is survived by his wife: Pam; two sons: Brian and Mitchell; three grandsons: Austin, Ben and Mason; a granddaughter: Sharee; five sisters: Liza (Larry) Jones, Louise Wakley, Vannie Swinehart, Billie Jo May and Pat (Kevin) Koher; and seven brothers: Joe (Mary), Don ( Sandy ), George (Joann), Brad (Anastasia), Buren, Wayne (Tracy), and Dale (Sherry).

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Earl; his first wife: Lynne Watkins Stidams; three brothers: Jim, Mark and Delbert Jr.; two sisters: Kelly and Marie.

A viewing was held Thursday, Nov. 7, at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, with full military burial at the Veteran Memorial in Marion, Ind.
