Craig#2Richard DeVon Craig, 68, of Bourbon, Ind., passed away at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, in his home with family by his side.

DeVon was born the son of James Earl Craig and Gertrude Marie Bailey Craig in Plymouth, Ind., on March 16, 1945. He was a lifelong resident of the Bourbon area and a graduate of Bourbon High School class of 1963. On Oct. 23, 1970, he married Susan Benedict.

He was retired from R.R. Donnelly and Sons of Warsaw as a pressman, retiring in 2007, and a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church.

He served in the Vietnam War in the United States Army from Sept. 2, 1965, to Sept. 1, 1971. He was a member of the Bourbon American Legion, Post #424. He loved to fish, play pool, pinball and especially loved his Corvette.

DeVon is survived by his wife: Susan Benedict, Bourbon; a daughter: Shawn (David) Gargis, Warsaw, Ind.; grandchildren: Brittny and Zac Moriarty; great-granddaughters: Adalyn, Brogan Gargis and Briley Gargis, all of Warsaw; two sisters: Patricia and Norman Cretcher, Bourbon; and Kathie McDaniel, Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Elaine Cova; and two brothers: Donald and Bruce Craig.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the funeral home with Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial is to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bourbon, with Military Honors by the Bourbon American Legion.
