HeadshotMelissa Jane “Missy” Naugler, 42, of Springfield, Ohio, and formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home in Springfield.

She was born April 12, 1971, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Stephen A. and Nina Jane (Sparrow) Naugler.

She graduated in 1989 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse and from Ball State University in Muncie. She then completed her master’s degree and was working on her doctorate both through the University of Phoenix.

She moved to Springfield about 12 years ago from the Syracuse area. She was employed at Ascendum Solutions in Cincinnati, Ohio, and formerly worked at 3 Flags Drive Inn in Syracuse many years ago.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Springfield and formerly attended the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church in Syracuse.

Melissa is survived by her parents: Steve and Nina Naugler, Cromwell, Ind.; two sisters: Stacy (Rob Mayhew) Naugler, North Webster, Ind.; and Gretchen (Adam Reel) Kintzel, Syracuse; maternal grandfather: J.C. Sparrow, Covington, Ky.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday with Pastor Dan Carlson of the Wolf Lake Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at noon Wednesday in the Wolf Lake Cemetery, South 450 West, near Wolf Lake.
