William Hofherr, 79, of Lake Tippecanoe, Leesburg, Ind., passed away at 4:43 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in his residence.
He was born March 22, 1934, in Yorktown, Ind., to Marion and Minnie Hester (McKinley) Hofherr.
He faithfully served his country in the United States Army as an Sp3 (T) Military Policeman with Company B 728th MP Battalion from 1953 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 21, 1959, he was united in marriage to Janet Lingle in Muncie, Ind. Janet preceded him on Sept. 16, 2006.
After many years of service he retired from Indiana-Michigan Electric as a Supervisor. He was a Tippecanoe Lake resident since 1985 and member of the Syracuse American Legion Post 223.
He is survived by a son: Brian Scott (Donna Gail) Hofherr, Atwood, Ind.; a daughter: Karla (John) Drudge, Warm Springs, Ga.: sisters: Nancy Reynolds, Bradenton, Fla.; and Mary Lou Witty, Yorktown.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter: Jane Ellen Kinzer; four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Hawk Cemetery, Yorktown. No calling is planned. McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted with the services.
