Gerald C. Carlin, 86, formerly of Warsaw, Ind., and North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Parkview Oaks Healthcare, Columbia City, Ind.
He was born in Kosciusko County, Ind., on July 3, 1926, to Ray and Estella (Evans) Carlin. On Oct. 19, 1952, he married Myrna Rae Bauer. She preceded him.
Gerald was a 1944 graduate of Claypool High School, served in the United States Army during WW II, and was a member of the American Legion Post # 258, Pierceton, Ind. A farmer for many years, in the 1950’s he owned and operated the Shell Gas Station in Warsaw. In the 1960’s he drove a milk truck for Kraft and was employed with Degoods Tractor Sales, both of Warsaw. For 22 years he was employed with Gast Fuel & Service, Warsaw, and from 1991-1998 he owned the East End Lunch, North Manchester.
Surviving are four sons: Roy Carlin, North Manchester; Alton (Janice) Carlin, Warsaw; Ken Carlin, Wawaka, Ind.; Harold (Laurie) Carlin, Mentone, Ind.; two daughters: Karen (Bob) Fawcett, North Manchester; Sue (Randy) Simpson, South Whitley, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded by one daughter and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, and from 12 p.m. 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at McKee Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the funeral home. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate services and burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Warsaw.
