A local man was taken into police custody early Saturday morning after driving his vehicle through two residential yards and over a seawall into Lake Tippecanoe.

At about 11:46 p.m. the man, today identified in a police report at Christopher Evett, 41, of North Webster, drove into the lake off of EMS T16 Lane, Leesburg, then fled the scene on foot. Evett was later located by police, but refused to give a statement. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for a legal blood draw where blood alcohol tests are pending.

One of the homeowners, who provided the photo to StaceyPageOnline.com, as well as several people at nearby Pie Eyed Petey’s, reported seeing the man taken into custody when he allegedly went back to the restaurant and bar after crashing his vehicle.

As of this morning, there is no booking record for Evett.
