1130137_profile_picElizabeth A. ‘Liz’ Furnivall, 78, of Rochester, Ind., was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, at her residence.

On Feb. 3, 1935, Liz was born in Plymouth, Ind., to Fritz and Fannie Howard Klingerman. Liz married her best friend and the love of her life, Dale H. Furnivall, on March 24, 1951, in Rochester. Together they shared 48 loving years and raised 3 children, Steve, Mike and Sue. To Liz, Dale was perfect in every way, until he traded their motorcycle to buy their first home, without her consent.

The couple loved to travel. Hawaii and Alaska were their favorite destinations. As they went everywhere together, it was often said that they were joined at the hip. Dale and Liz loved to golf and watch Tiger Woods when he was playing. If he didn’t make the cut, it was not worth watching for them. The Colts were also a favorite until Payton Manning left the team, and her loyalties went to the Broncos. Saturday afternoons were often spent cheering for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Football Team. Dale was always number one in Liz’s life and she took care of him until he passed away. Elvis was second in her heart, but sometimes family and friends wondered after looking at the pictures and her shrine to him. Flower gardening, bird watching and mowing the lawn were enjoyed by Liz, but she often was tormented by the squirrels and moles in her yard. After many years of service, Liz retired from Hart Schaffner and Marx of Rochester. She was a member of the Rochester Elks and the Moose Family Center of Rochester.

Liz is lovingly survived by a daughter: Susan Furnivall, Rochester; two sons: Steven (Ann) Furnivall and Michael (Terri) Furnivall, both of Rochester; five grandchildren: Ashley (Marc) Cilfone; Corbin Furnivall; Jon Wootten; Julia Bradley; five great-grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua; Noah and Timothy Wootten; and Siena Cilfone; her little brother: James Klingerman, Plymouth, Ind.; three brothers-in-law: Duane (Julia) Howard, Grants Pass, Ore.; David (Linda) Furnivall, Warsaw, Ind.; and Delon (Terri) Furnivall, Tippecanoe, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding Liz in death are her parents and husband.

Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. A celebration of life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home. Reverend Maurice Grindle will officiate services.
