GOSHEN – One of the top basketball players in northern Indiana has made her college commitment.

Goshen High School junior Brynn Shoup-Hill announced Thursday afternoon her commitment to the University of Dayton. Shoup-Hill had been courted by over a dozen Division 1 programs, including Ball State, Xavier and Central Michigan.

The 6-3 combo forward was a game-changing force for the surging RedHawks. Shoup-Hill averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game for Goshen, which went 18-6 in its best season in five years.

Shoup-Hill had 14 double-doubles last season, including some monster games. Against state-ranked Marian, Shoup-Hill had 23 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks and later had 31 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks against Tippecanoe Valley. Shoup-Hill also combined for 50 points and 32 rebounds against South Bend Adams and Concord. All four games resulted in wins.

Of the 24 games, Shoup-Hill had nine contests with at least five blocks. She was fourth in the state with 98 blocks, and tied for third in per-game average at 4.1.

For her career, Shoup-Hill, who plays for her dad, Shaun, has averaged 13.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.0 blocks. She has scored 912 career points.

In 2019-20, Shoup-Hill earned an Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week award and was later named an Indiana Junior All-Star. The three-time All-Northern Lakes Conference performer was also an Indiana All-Star Classic player as a sophomore.

The University of Dayton had a huge 2019-20 season under fourth-year head coach Shauna Green. The Flyers went 25-8 overall and 15-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, winning both the regular season and tournament titles before the NCAA Division 1 tournament was canceled. Green, the A-10’s Coach of the Year, guided the Flyers to win 20 of its final 21 games.
