Ron Gagnon, 82, Akron, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Woodlawn Hospital.

He was born in Fulton County on Sept. 5, 1937, to Arthur and Violet (Hamilton) Gagnon. Gagnon had lived in Mentone, and the Beaver Dam area, but most of his life in the Akron community. He graduated from Burket High School in 1955. He married Carma L. (Middleton) Backus in 1959. They recently had a public celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary and now have been married 61 years.
Gagnon was employed at Sonoco Products Company in Akron for 20 years. After leaving there, he became a truck driver and did miscellaneous jobs. His last job was at Mid-West Springs in Mentone where he retired in 2002.
He attended Silver Creek Church of God when his health allowed him to.
He enjoyed hunting all kinds of animals.
Surviving Ron is his wife: Carma, Akron; two children: Steven E. (spouse Kathy) Gagnon, Warsaw; Barbara (spouse Tim) Gagnon of Wabash; one stepson: Steven D. (spouse Linda) Backus, Akron; one sister: Clara Brown, Houston, Tex.; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ron in death are his parents: stepdaughter: Debra L. Backus, stepson: Daniel D. Backus, and brother: Eugene Gagnon.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private graveside services will be held at Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake, with Pastor Tom Craig officiating.
