DENVER – An opportunistic Whitko baseball team collected a conference win Monday night.

The Class 3-A No. 8 Wildcats took advantage of a porous defense by host North Miami to post an 8-2 win in Three Rivers Conference action.

Both teams managed just five hits in the contest, but the hosts committed seven errors in the loss.

Alex Stoddard smacked a two-run double to highlight the offense for the winning Wildcats.

Zach Snep, Tanner Gaff, Wyatt Wolf and Ethan Nicodemus each had a hit for Whitko. Snep scored three runs and Gaff had an RBI for the winners.

Whitko improves to 17-7 overall and 3-3 in the TRC.

The Wildcats host Rochester Wednesday in another TRC game at 5 p.m.
