Wayne R. Pettigrew, 61, of rural Columbia City, Ind., passed away in the afternoon on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1952, in Columbia City, to Robert Lavere and Norma Jean (Longsworth) Pettigrew. His formative years were spent in Jefferson Township. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School. In 1974 he moved to his current home. On Feb. 14, 1985, he was united in marriage to Karen A. Nulf.

In January 1972 he began his employment at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Surviving relatives include his four children: Jami (Chad) Thompson, Warsaw, Ind.; Chad (Bobbi) Pettigrew, Wolcottville, Ind.; Angela Foster-Kneller, Columbia City; Brandi (Brandon) Bow, Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren: Trenton Thompson, Jenna Thompson, Sydney Pettigrew, Anna Kneller, Maggie Kneller, Bella Kneller and Drew Reinhart; his mother; a brother: Tom Pettigrew, Columbia City; and two sisters: Rosalyn Donohue and Rebecca Foster, both of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by  his father and a granddaughter, Savanna Pettigrew.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the funeral home. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery.
