Ninabelle Swick, 93, of Akron, Ind., passed away at 8:29 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, Ind.
She was born in Miami County on Jan. 20, 1920, to Wallace and Bertha (Zegafuse) Powell.
She married Orval Glenn Swick on Nov. 22, 1939, in Macy. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1988.
She worked for the former Chamberlain Products of Akron, and also was a farmer’s wife, taking care of many farm duties. She was a 1938 graduate of Macy High School. She was a member of the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church since 1939. Ninabelle was an avid Tippecanoe Valley High School boys basketball fan, traveling to most all home and away games. She enjoyed gardening and yard work.
Survivors include a daughter: Jean (Keith) Moore, Swayzee, Ind.; sons: Terry G. Swick, Akron, Ind.; and Eddie (Lena) Swick, Akron; five grandchildren: Nathan (April) Moore, Andrea Moore, Serena (David) Smith, Tracey Swick and Sergey Nemtsev; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers: Earl, Rex and Harold Powell; two sisters: Helen Mullendore Sink, Clara Barnhisel Smith and Edyth Rohr; and daughter-in-law: Sharon Swick.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Hartlzer Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery, Akron.
