WARSAW – The start of Senior Night Friday got off to a good start for the Warsaw baseball team.

An eight-run fourth inning by visiting Northridge, however, put a damper on things in a hurry.

The Raiders recovered from an early three-run deficit to top the Tigers 16-6 in Northern Lakes Conference play.

Warsaw led 4-1 after three innings after scoring single runs in the first and second frames and adding a pair in the third.

The league-leading Raiders, who improve to 16-3 overall and 11-1 in the NLC, tallied eight runs in the fourth to take control. Northridge scored six more runs in their final at-bat in the seventh inning.

The Raiders, who edged Warsaw 6-5 on April 25 in Middlebury, piled up 17 hits off of a trio of Warsaw pitchers. Northridge had four doubles and two homers in the victory.

Junior Brandon Shipp led the Tigers with two hits, including a double.  Senior Josh Frantz and sophomore Tyler LaFollette each also had two hits for Warsaw.

Seniors Shay Hepler and Jared Lemler each had a double for the Tigers. Sophomore Kevin Hawley took the pitching loss as he allowed eight runs, just three of them earned, in the first 3 2/3 innings as the starter.

Shannon Baker provided a big bat for the Raiders with a home run and five RBI. Brock Logan also homered for the winners. Blake Fry had three hits for the Raiders.

Winning pitcher Austin Moniot, who went the first five innings, also had three hits and two RBI for Northridge.

Warsaw honored seniors Josh Frantz, Shay Hepler, Jared Lemler, Forde Ness, Jason Ferguson and Taylor Berelsman Friday night.

The Warsaw JV team dropped a 4-3 final to Northridge in eight innings Friday night. Ryan Marshall homered and Brad Christenberry had two hits for the Tigers. Zach Witt took the pitching loss, his first of the season. The Tiger JV falls to 10-8 overall and 7-5 in the NLC. Grant Miller homered for Northridge, which improved to 13-3 overall and 8-3 in league play.

The Warsaw varsity squad plays at Fort Wayne Carroll Saturday at 10 a.m. The Tigers then travel to face NLC foe Concord Monday.

The Tiger JV team hosts DeKalb Saturday at 10 a.m.
