SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko’s Ethan Nicodemus had an offensive stat sheet stuffer Saturday.
Nicodemus led the way at the plate as the host Wildcats defeated Triton 16-6 in six innings.
Nicodemus went 3-4 at the dish with a double and five RBI. He also scored three runs and had three stolen bases in the non-conference win.
Nicodemus also earned the pitching win by going the final 2 2/3 innings.
The Wildcats scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Whitko also had 15 hits in the win.
Ryan Weigold was 3-5 with three RBI and Wyatt Wolf was 2-3 with three RBI for coach Erik Hisner’s squad.
Josh Kessie was 2-3, Alex Stoddard went 2-4 with a triple and three runs scored and Tanner Gaff homered for Whitko in the win.
Ben Perkins was 2-3 with an RBI to lead Triton. Seth Glingle and Jayden Hargrove each had a double for the Trojans. Skyler Reichert took the pitching loss.
Whitko improves to 15-5 on the season, while Triton drops to 4-10.
Whitko hosts TRC foe and Class 2-A defending state champion Northfield Monday at 5 p.m. Triton hosts NSC opponent Bremen Monday at 5 p.m.
