Bret Raymond Shepler, Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at 10:58 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at his residence at the age of 60.

He was born on May 16, 1959, in Warsaw, to Bettylee (Forrester) Shepler and Harold Raymond Shepler.

He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a 1978 graduate of Warsaw High School. He worked for 30 years for the Warsaw Parks Department and was a foreman at the time of his retirement in 2010. When he was not working, he enjoyed his time off being in the great outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and trap.

He leaves behind his mother: Bettylee Shepler, Warsaw; two sons: Branden Shepler, Laketon; Bryan Shepler, Warsaw; two daughters: Brooke Shepler, Syracuse; Brittney (Heath) Simons, Rochester; seven grandchildren; and his sister: Elnora Jane Shepler.  He was preceded in death by his father: Harold Raymond Shepler, on June 16, 1988; and a brother: Gilbert Lavern Morts.

Visitation will be held prior to his funeral from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.  Bret’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 1 p.m. and officiated by Ken Locke. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
