Eugene H. Sarber, 95, passed away at Mason’s Healthcare in Warsaw, on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020.
He was born in Mentone, to Esther and Elmer Sarber. He married the former Betty Jean Cain on June 1, 1946. She died on July 29, 1990. He married Maria Brack on Aug. 30, 1991. She died on Jan. 31, 2019.
Eugene was a chicken farmer in Mentone until he retired. Upon retirement he moved to Warsaw. He farmed with his dad and they had about 180 acres in corn and beans as well as the chickens. He attended Faith Assembly for many years. After he retired, he ministered in various home churches. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and bowled in leagues. He always enjoyed playing ping-pong and in his later years would frequently travel to Battell Center in Mishawaka to play. He also loved fishing and took trips to Canada, Minnesota and Lake Erie to fish. He liked to fish for blue gill and walleye.
He is survived by his sister, Faye Whetstone of Mentone; two daughters, Diana Romine of Columbia City and Luanna Keim of Mishawaka; three stepchildren, Tim (Babby) Porter of West Lafayette, Dawn (Dean) Hance of Warsaw and Heidi Seabourn of Milton, PA. He also had nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, both wives, his sister, Zelda Blackford; son-in-law, Dan Romine, one grandson, Joel Romine and one great grandson Jaxon Lantz.
Private burial entrusted to Titus Funeral Home will be in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
