Tennis Team Tops Vikings

A pair of doubles wins paced the Triton girls tennis team to a 4-1 home win Wednesday over Tippecanoe Valley.

The No. 1 team of Marissa Ross and Holly Stogsdill defeated Taylor Trippiedi and Alexis Swihart 6-0, 6-1 to lead the way for Triton.

Cassie Irons and Shayla May teamed for a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 win over Kathy Eagleson and Morgan Conliff at No. 2 doubles for the Trojans.

Kaelyn Mason defeated Michelle Peters 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for Triton and Carrie Slabaugh topped Hanna Dalrymple 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 for the hosts.

Valley collected its point at No. 3 singles as Tiffyni Tackett beat Michal Scherer-Berry 6-1, 6-4.

Triton improves to 4-3 overall on the season with the non-conference win.

The Trojans won both JV matches as Cara Hoffman and Morgan Brazo each won in singles play.

Jennings Hurls Another Gem

Mallorie Jennings continued her stellar season in the circle Wednesday for the Triton softball team.

Jennings twirled a two-hitter as the host Trojans blanked Knox 5-0 in Northern State Conference action.

Jennings had 11 strikeouts in the league win.

Krystal Sellers led the Triton offense with three hits, including two doubles.

Lillie Berger put Triton on top for good with an RBI single in the first inning. The Trojans scored single runs in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth frames in the victory.
