WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested in two drug-related cases.
In the first case, Kegan Charles Young, 31, 957 N. Old Orchard Drive, Warsaw, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor. In the second case, Young is charged with possession of a narcotic drug and possession of methamphetamine, both level 6 felonies; and possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 8, 2019, an officer with the Indiana State Police was assisting an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office with the apprehension of a wanted person in Syracuse.
During the apprehension, the officers came in contact with Young, who was in a vehicle with the wanted person. Since illegal drugs were located in Young’s vehicle, Young was searched. According to court documents, the officer found a glass smoking device with white residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.
On Sept. 24, 2019, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was processing a vehicle that had been stolen and recovered. The vehicle had been in Young’s possession at the time of recovery. While searching the vehicle, the officer found a backpack belonging to Young that contained four round pink tablets identified as Clonazepam, a schedule IV controlled substance; a folded up one dollar bill containing a powder that tested positive for heroin; a folded five dollar bill containing methamphetamine; and a tablet identified as Alprazolam, a schedule IV controlled substance.
On Dec. 9, 2019, the officer interviewed Young at the sheriff’s office when he came to claim personal items left in the vehicle. When asked about the found drugs, Young admitted the drugs were his.
Young was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 10, 2020, with a $10,500 surety and cash bond.
