SYRACUSE — Timothy Abair, 30, South Bend, was taken into custody and is facing a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent following a one-vehicle crash on SR 13 Tuesday, Jan. 14. The crash was at approximately 2:55 p.m. between South Shore Drive and Brown Road.

Abair received minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The two minor children in the vehicle were uninjured.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Abair was southbound on SR 13 in a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan when he fell asleep. The van went off the east side of the roadway, down a ditch and hit a tree.

Abair was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail and is being held on $5,250 surety and cash bond. More charges may be filed.
