Mr. James “Jim” Fisher, 69, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 8:30 p.m., Jan. 1, 2020, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
On April 29, 1950, James Everett “Jim” Fisher was born in Fulton County. He was the son of Woodward and Evelyn Nelson Fisher. Growing up in Kewanna Jim shared his childhood with his twin brother John. He graduated from Kewanna High School in 1968, serving his class as President. Jim went to Ball State and studied business. He graduated with an associates degree in business from International Business College in Ft. Wayne.
At the Kewanna United Methodist Church, Jim married the love of his life Mary Martha Stoudt, on Dec. 27, 1969. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. From their union came two wonderful children Matt and Kathy. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
Jim was an accountant. He attended Faith Outreach Center. With a great love for music, over the years, Jim served as the choir director for several community churches.
As the patriarch of the Fisher family, Grandpa Jim was proud to oversee four generations. He looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and the great-grands. The holidays and special family celebrations were times when many memories were made. Grandpa and Grandma Fisher were always in the stands at the grandchildren’s athletic contests, concerts and academic competitions, always there to cheer them on. At home Jim enjoyed taking them on walks to the dam to look at nature in action and feed the ducks.
Left to Cherish Jim’s memory are his wife Mary M. Fisher at home, children Kathy Watson and husband Jon of Rochester, Matt Fisher and wife Jamie of Goshen, six grandchildren: Kallie Watson, Lilly Watson and Caleb Watson and wife Bridget, Eva Fisher, Jaden Fisher and Greyson Fisher; three great-grandchildren Nash Watson, Maddy Watson and Bella Watson, twin brother John A. Fisher and wife Jeannine of Henderson, Nev., two sisters Sue Hudkins and husband Virgil, Karen Deeds and husband Gene all of Rochester.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents Woodward and Evelyn Fisher, a sister Virginia Baker, six brothers: Ralph F. Martin, Robert Martin, Charles Martin, LeRoy Martin, Ronnie Martin and Donnie Martin.
A celebration of the life of Mr. Jim Fisher will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Faith Outreach Center 1125 East 9th Street, Rochester. Pastor Terry Baldwin will officiate. His family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, at the church and an hour prior to his services. The Good Family Funeral Home is caring for his family.
