BLOOMINGTON, SOUTH BEND, WEST LAFAYETTE – Three universities in the Hoosier state are on the list of Bloomberg Businessweek magazine’s Best “B-Schools” to get an MBA.

The ranking is based on criteria, including compensation, networking, learning, and entrepreneurship.

The publication says each of the four categories is a weighted index. The magazine used surveys with nearly 27,000 MBA students, alumni and recruiters to determine the value of each index.

Compensation measured the highest value with 37% of the total score.

“Not surprisingly, earnings rank highest. Our index uses these measures: pay right after graduation, what alumni are earning, percentage of students employed three months after graduation, percentage of a class receiving a signing bonus, and size of bonuses,” said the magazine summary.

The networking index measured nearly 26%, the learning index tallied about 21% and the entrepreneurship index accounted for about 16% of the score.

Number 25: Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in the highest ranked school in the state to earn an MBA with an overall score of 74.4.

“Kelley is truly a collaborative and supportive environment for faculty, staff and students, who are exceptionally engaged in all aspects of an MBA experience,” commented one person who was surveyed.

Number 28: Three spots behind is the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame with a score of 71.6.

“A small class size leads to an amazing alumni network, both of which were integral in helping me land a job,” responded one student.

Number 78: The Krannert School of Business at Purdue University has a score of 26.6.

“The many opportunities to develop different types of skills was the best thing,” said one respondent.

Stanford is ranked No. 1 on the Bloomberg list.
