
Carole E. Gessinger, 83, Nappanee, died at 2:52 pm, Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was born May 11, 1936, in Nappanee to Noah O. and Bernice (Peters) Miller. She was a lifetime resident of Nappanee and graduated from Nappanee High School in 1954. On Nov. 11, 1956, she married Robert Gessinger at the Nappanee Church of the Brethren. He preceded her in death March 4, 2015.
Mrs. Gessinger was deeply dedicated to her family and community. She was a lifetime member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren where she volunteered and taught Sunday School. She was a fulltime super mom and grandma. Carole was a member of Thursday Club in Nappanee and a volunteer for Indiana School for the Deaf. Both Bob and Carole were instrumental in coordinating transportation for students living in Northern Indiana commuting to ISD.
Surviving are her sons, Greg Gessinger, Nappanee; Mark (Debbie) Gessinger, Bloomington; grandchildren, Kathleen (Logan) Day, Fishers; Dylan Gessinger, Carmel; great grandchildren, Adeline Carole and Isabelle Margaret Day; and sister, Julia A. (Don) Truex, New Paris.
She was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Robert J. and Karen Miller and a sister and her husband, Janet and Wayne McCuen.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the funeral service which will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Rev. Byrl Shaver will officiate and burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
