Alice E. Montel Hasty Schumaker

Alice E. Montel Hasty Schumaker, 100, Noblesville, passed away Nov. 23, 2019. On March 30, 1919, Alice was born in Silver Lake, to Ralph and Oznola (Freed) Montel.

Alice was a reserved women that was independently strong and faithful. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1937 and then attended La Salle College and received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. Alice worked two to three jobs at a time to support her family. Alice worked as an auditor and office manager for a whole sale beverage company and was an accountant and office manager for General Motors Dealerships, retiring in 1981. She was an accomplished at cross-stitching and loved needle point work. Alice was devoted to the Lord and her children and was a member of East 91st Street Christian Church, Indianapolis. She married Walter Schumacher in 1981.

Alice will be lovingly remembered by her sons Carlyle (Marjie) Hasty, Cicero; and Stanley (Jane) Hasty, Carmel; two brothers Ralph (Margaret) Montel, Warsaw; and Merl (Lessie) Montel, Pierceton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and six sisters, Marie Bouse, Mildred Eads, Elva Miller, Miriam Eads, Mable Enyeart, and Florence Shipley.

Family and friends may call from 12:30-2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29, at the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, 2507 State Road 14, Silver Lake, IN 46982. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling. Pastor Doug Reichenbach will officiate and burial will be held at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, 2507 State Road 14, Silver Lake, IN 46982.
