Waunita F. (Tusing) Huston, 76, of Edwardsburg, Mich., and formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in I.U. Health Goshen Hospital, Goshen, Ind.
She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., and had been residing for the past two years in Michigan. She was a 1955 graduate of Leesburg High School, Leesburg, Ind.; and a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church in Warsaw.
Waunita retired in 1998 from Zimmer Inc. of Warsaw, after 23 years. She had also helped her first husband operate Tusing Brothers Lumber Company in Leesburg.
She was born on March 18, 1937, in Warsaw to the late Roman Robert Kern and Zelma F. (Witmer) Ritter. On Nov. 26, 1955, she was married to Lee A. Tusing, who passed away on Jan. 30, 2006. Waunita was remarried on June 18, 2011, to James W. Huston, who survives in Edwardsburg.
She is survived by her two sons: William C. (Patricia) Tusing, Goshen; Daniel C. (Rebecca) Tusing, Syracuse, Ind.; one daughter: Gail (Daniel) Garrett, Evansville, Ind.; three stepdaughters: Jennifer Huston, Chicago, Ill.; Denise (Bernarr) Berkland, Osceola, Ind.; Lori (Michael) Bonnici, San Anselmo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Stephanie, Zach, Neil, Jacob, Melissa, Luke, Frank, Lee, Mikeala, Anthony; 12 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law: Tammie Ingle, Warsaw; and one brother: Harold “Ike” (Dorothy) Kern, Valparaiso, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband: Lee A. Tusing; and her son: Rolf C. Tusing; two sisters: Jenny and Mary; and two brothers: Fred and Buck.
Her visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, at Dutchtown Brethren Church, 4057 E. 300 N., Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Jack Worth. Burial will follow at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg.
