UPDATE: Driver From Tuesday’s Fatal Crash On SR 13 Identified

PIERCETON — At 1: 21 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center received multiple calls regarding a collision between a semi-tractor/trailer and a sport utility vehicle in the 5000 block of south State Road 13.

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene. 

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team, a northbound black Chevrolet Suburban driven by Robert M. Porter, 22, Warsaw, crossed the center line of State Road 13 for an unknown reason. The Suburban struck a 2000 Peterbilt semi-tractor, owned by Deatsman Farms. As a result of the collision, Robert Porter sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Peterbilt, identified as Brian Mikel, 65, New Paris, did not receive injuries in the crash. 

Responding agencies include Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Pierceton Police Department, Lutheran EMS, Sidney Fire Department, Pierceton Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

This matter remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team.
