CHICAGO — A scary moment for passengers on a flight landing at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. The plane had just touched down when it slid off the runway on Monday.

No one was hurt, luckily, just a little shaken up.

One of the passengers lives in Warsaw. He told us about the brief scare and how those on-board the plane handled the situation.

“We had an early flight out of Greensboro this morning, flying to Chicago,” said Mike Harvey. “First time we came to the runway, we were probably a couple hundred feet from the runway when the pilot pulled up. Got on and said ‘Hey, we’re going to take one more run at it. The towers wanted us to take another run. We were going to take another run at it. If it doesn’t look good, we’re going to divert to Cincinnati.”

“Everyone just took it in stride,” continued Harvey. “It was kind of nice to see people didn’t overreact to it and just did what they told us to do. I didn’t hear a lot of complaining. I guess everyone was just happy to be on the ground and safe.”

Despite the slide-off, Harvey says he still believes planes are the safest way to travel. He got on his next flight from O’Hare.
