WARSAW — To encourage Warsaw Community Schools’ wellness initiative, Lakeview Middle School is having a monthly “wellness” focus.

During the month of September, eight staff members participated in the September Slim Down. All eight members lost weight, with Lynne Keffaber and Justin Wolpert taking the top honors.

October’s wellness initiative was “Fall Into a New Habit.” The challenge was to hit 10,000 steps every day starting on Oct. 1 and ending on Oct. 21.

Twenty staff members participated and logged 4,311,011 steps. That equates to just over 2,000 miles walked or 100 miles per person. Bryon Weinstein ended the challenge with the most steps, logging 334,907 steps.
