WARSAW — A Warsaw man was sentenced to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections on Monday, Oct. 21, after battering a pregnant woman.
Eric Michael Sasso, 27, 942 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, was charged with domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony.
On July 1, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman who had multiple bruises on her face, upper right arm, left ear, temple area and right cheek. The woman said she was battered by Sasso and that she was pregnant with Sasso’s child.
Sasso was previously convicted of domestic battery on Sept. 4, 2014.
“This is a very troubling case,” said Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Sobek. “He’s trying to manipulate the victim and she believes that she has suffered brain damage. He’s trying to get her to do what he wants her to do.”
Kosciusko Superior Three Court Judge Joe Sutton sentenced Sasso to 10 years at the DoC. He moved to keep a no-contact order between Sasso and the victim established.
Sasso has 112 days of jail time credit for this case. Two other cases regarding possession of methamphetamine and domestic battery were dismissed.
