
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (IATCCC) announced its selections for Academic All-State for both boys and girls cross country.
To be chosen for the award, the athlete must be a junior or senior in cross country, be on the sectional tournament roster and have the academic standings of 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) and a minimum SAT score of 1200 or ACT of 26. Juniors can have an SAT score of at least 1140.
Over 75 athletes from the area were chosen for Academic All-State or Honorable Mention status. NorthWood, Warsaw and Wawasee had girls chosen for the lists while NorthWood, Triton and Warsaw boys were chosen among the many.
Warsaw had Austin Fleming, Sam Lechlitner and Jacob Kissling named Academic All-State and Ian Denzer, Fernando Niebbia and Hanna Bloemendaal all named Honorable Mention Academic All-State. Wawasee had Ella Beezley named Honorable Mention and NorthWood had Quinten Hunsberger, Sam Schlatter, Stephen Schmidt, Hanna Eberle and Araceli Martinez all All-State and Zach Yoder as Honorable Mention. Triton saw Brandon Kitch named All-State and Parker Alford as Honorable Mention.
Highlighting area girls Academic All-State were Clara Lind of Bethany Christian, Courtney Lawmaster of Bremen, Anna Becker and Sam Richards of East Noble, Rachel Williams of Mishawaka, Alison Bache of Northridge, Penn’s Katie Casbon, Reagan Hoke and Nicole Marshall, St. Joe’s Ellen Lavelle, Maeve O’Shaughnessy and Bridget Stockrahm, and Erin Shoemaker of West Noble.
Honorable Mentions went to Bremen’s Jasmine Gramm, Rachel Hall and Meg Wyly, Amelia Fahl of Columbia City, Laila Nagy of Elkhart Memorial, Penn’s Aislynn Alkire, Cassidy Cripe, Hannah Cussen and Riley Keppler, and Olivia Miller of St. Joe.
Earning Academic All-State for the boys runners include Jacob Fish of Bremen, Nathan Mills of Columbia City, Joseph Chandler of Culver Academy, Kyler Corbin of East Noble, Lucas Bontrager-Waite and Conrad Liechty of Goshen, Andrew Eichstadt of Northridge, Penn’s Ben Boardly, Taylor Cussen, Josiah Railton, Jaitin Soni and Joshua Temeles, Zach Taylor and TJ Weber of St. Joe, Braden Sweet of Southwood, Caleb Callahan of Wabash and West Noble’s Nathan Mast and Thomas Sheeley.
Honorable Mentions went to Bobby Simons of Bremen, Columbia City’s Cameron Jagger and Nicholas Mills, East Noble’s Austin Liepe, Wesley Potts, Elkhart Memorial’s Luis Cruz Portillo and Neil Terrell, Goshen’s Jocsan Barahona Rosales, Simon Hertlzer Gascho and Richard Hetler, Mishawaka’s Mark Crooks and Casey Quintana, Northridge’s Jon Eichstadt and Zach Smaka, Plymouth’s Konnor Ray and Cam Riddle, St. Joe’s Liam Fuller and Josh Juday and West Noble’s Colten Cripe and Isaac Flora.
