UPDATE: Water Main Break In Syracuse Causes Boil Order, Road Closure
SYRACUSE — Mike Noe, Syracuse Town Manager, has just announced a boil order has been issued for certain residents and businesses in Syracuse. The boil order is due to a large water main break on Pickwick Drive.
Noe stated the boil order will be for those residents and businesses south of Maple Grove to the south end of town and located on the east and west side of SR 13. This includes Oakwood Park. He stressed residents should not use the water. E-coli samples will be taken once the line is repaired and again 24-hours later. The boil order is expected to last until Wednesday evening at this point.
City employees are going door to door in the affected area handing out boil order flyers.
Noe reports the water has been shut off to the water main on Pickwick Drive and repairs are taking place. However, Pickwick Drive, south of SR 13 to at least Forrest Lane is closed to all traffic.
The water main break occurred when town employees were repairing a small water leak in front of Hammers Pub-N-Grub and a backhoe struck the large water main.
