Manchester University Choirs Offer Autumn Concert
NORTH MANCHESTER — Manchester University Chamber Singers and Cantabile will present their fall concert, Friday, Oct. 18.
The concert will be in the Wine Recital Hall at Ortho Winger Hall at 7:30 p.m. on the North Manchester campus. Admission to the concert is free.
Chamber Singers will perform pieces by Libby Larsen, Healy Willan and Samuel Barber.
The choir, an auditioned group formed from the larger A Capella Chor, is under the direction of Debra Lynn, MU director for choral organizations and vocal studies.
“There’s a wide variety of music at this particular concert. Compositions range from the Renaissance period through the 21st Century and represent cultures from all over the world,” said Lynn.
Haley Cochran, a senior with a double major in choral music education and vocal performance, will conduct a piece by Thomas Arne.
Cantabile will perform a broad range of works, including a piece by Chiara Margarita Cozzolani and another based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson.
Cantabile is an auditioned all women’s choir directed by Robert Lynn, an adjunct faculty of the Music Department at Manchester University.
